Dilley Councilwoman Alexandria Martinez-Inocencio | Frio COVID Lifeline

WHO TAKES CARE OF THE PArents and caregivers?

In this video, Dilley Councilwoman Alexandria Martinez-Inocencio describes caring for an adult with COVID-19. In an earlier video, journalist Breyana Segura describes the experience of a parent caring for an infant. Both cases ended with successful recoveries and the patients’ health intact. Still, both women touched on some of the unexpected emotional tolls of the experience.

Some caregivers will have more extreme experiences. Circumstances exacerbated by more severe symptoms, financial loss, the age of the patient, child care, personal health. Family and friends can provide some support, as Breyana Segura mentioned.

When that’s not enough, the Centers for Disease Control has published some useful phone numbers and tips: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/managing-stress-anxiety.html

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services also posted these phone numbers and links:
